Bathrooms (Polished Marble, Limestone, or Travertine)

Regular Cleaning

Use this for your regular cleaning. Note that use of chemicals is NOT required.

As these types of tiles will most likely have been sealed, it is important to protect the integrity of the sealer as much as possible by minimal and careful use of chemicals.

  1. Vacuum tiles to remove loose grit from the surface.

  2. Clean using a damp microfibre string mop (clean water only – no chemicals).

  3. Spot clean any spills, marks or stains using an alkaline cleaning agent such as Slique Heavy Duty chemical. Make sure dilution instructions are followed carefully.

  4. Rinse lightly with CLEAN water to remove chemical residues, and dry using an old towel – do not leave to dry on the floor.

Periodic cleaning

Use this for periodic cleaning, or when there is a build-up not removed by daily care.

  1. Vacuum tiles to remove loose grit from the surface.

  2. Scrub all grout lines and tile surfaces using a light solution of tile cleaner suitable for your tiles, such as Slique Heavy Duty chemical. Use a soft brush to work the solution into the pores of the tiles and the grout. Leave the solution to work for a time (several minutes) and then agitate again. Complete a manageable area, say 3 or 4 square metres, at a time.

  3. Extract the solution off the floor using a wet vac.

  4. Rinse using clean water. DO NOT leave it to dry on the surface.

  5. Machine polish the floor using a 300 – 450 rpm polisher with pad drive-base and clean white buffing pads.
